The MVP Standard

Your MVP advocate: Money. Value. Profits.

MVP is the standard every engagement is measured against. Every business should earn Money, create Value, and make a Profit — and understand its numbers well enough to do all three on purpose.

M

Money

Cash flow you can see coming — projections, budgets, and books that are never months behind the business they describe.

V

Value

Work that adds up to an asset: clean financials a banker, a buyer, or the IRS can read without a translator.

P

Profits

Tax planning before the year ends — not after — so more of what the business earns stays in the business.

Our purpose, in one line: we help owners understand their business to make the best decisions — to maximize revenue, increase cash flow, and minimize taxes.

The Framework

The 5 D’s of Partnership

Most partnerships are formed on optimism. These are the five events that destabilize or end one. Each is predictable, none is rare — and every one becomes significantly more expensive when there is no plan in place. Tap a segment of the shield.

1 2 3 4 5

Dissolution

Structured winding down of operations

Planning for them in advance is not pessimistic. It is the difference between a business that survives a disruption and one that gets dissolved by it.

What your agreement should address

  • How business assets are valued at the time of dissolution
  • How proceeds are distributed among partners after liabilities are settled
  • Who is responsible for outstanding contracts, pending receivables, and existing obligations
  • Whether a partner can force dissolution — and under what conditions
  • The timeline and process for winding down operations

Every business eventually ends. The question is whether it ends on terms the partners control, or terms a court imposes.

“Forming a business entity without addressing the 5 D’s is like insuring a building but leaving the ownership dispute clause blank. The structure exists — but the protection does not.”

Forming a partnership, or already in one? Let’s review your agreement against all five — in a free 30-minute consultation.

The honest division of labor: we handle the tax and financial side of each D. An attorney drafts the agreement — we work alongside yours, so the financial structure and the legal structure line up.

Bookkeeping & Accounting

The books, handled — on a rhythm, not in a panic

Weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual bookkeeping, built around one standard: every account reconciled, every statement readable, a general ledger that stays clean. Open your books any day of the year and trust what they say.

Bank reconciliation

Every account tied out to the statement — no mystery balances, no drift.

Income statement

What the business actually earned, in a format you can act on.

Balance sheet

What the business owns and owes — the page bankers and underwriters read first.

Clean general ledger

Every transaction in its place, so tax time is a filing, not an excavation.

“Unlimited consultations are already included in our price.”

Questions do not wait for a billing cycle. When something comes up — a hire, a loan, a big purchase — you ask, and the answer is part of the service, not an extra line item.

Xero & QuickBooks

Two platforms. One set of books.

Most small firms make you pick their platform. We are certified in both of the platforms small businesses actually run on — so your books live where your business already works, and we meet you there.

Xero Bronze Partner

Xero — Bronze Partner

Cloud accounting set up properly from day one: chart of accounts, bank feeds, invoicing, and reporting that makes sense — plus training until your team is confident in it.

Intuit QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor — Online

QuickBooks — Certified ProAdvisor

Setup, installation, and training for QuickBooks Online: beginning balances, payroll, accounts receivable, inventory, and follow-up reviews that keep it clean.

Tax Preparation & Planning

Taxes, planned — not just filed

Preparation for the returns small businesses actually file — and planning that happens while the year can still change the answer:

  • Schedule C — sole proprietors and single-member LLCs
  • S-Corp returns — with the salary and distribution picture reviewed, not just recorded
  • Partnership returns — allocations and basis handled carefully, partner by partner
  • Individual returns — the owner’s return planned together with the business, never in a silo
  • Tax strategy — business and individual moves identified during the year, when they still count

Books a mess? No problem.

It is the most common way clients arrive here. The path is simple: we prepare the year’s bookkeeping, then the Schedule C, then your personal return — and set up a system so next year stays clean.

IRS Representation & Resolution

When the IRS writes first, you don’t answer alone

IRS problems do not go away by themselves — but they do get smaller when they are understood. Every matter below starts the same way: we pull the record, explain your options in plain language, and agree on a course of action. Then we deal with the IRS so you don’t have to.

Non-filed tax returns

Years of unfiled returns, brought current — the first step before anything else can be resolved.

Back taxes owed

A balance you cannot pay in full, reviewed against every route the IRS actually offers.

Payroll tax problems

Payroll tax debt is the kind the IRS pursues hardest. It gets a plan, early.

IRS liens & levies

A lien clouds everything you own; a levy takes it. Both have response windows — timing matters.

Wage garnishment

When the IRS is already taking part of every paycheck, the goal is a workable alternative.

IRS payment plans

An installment agreement sized to your real cash flow, not a number that defaults in month two.

Offer in Compromise

A settlement application built on your actual financial picture — prepared carefully, filed once.

Innocent spouse relief

Tax debt from a spouse or former spouse’s income may not be yours to pay. The rules decide.

Get your IRS file

Before strategy, the record: what the IRS has on file for you, pulled and explained.

Resolution work is handled for clients nationwide. Book the free consultation and bring the letters — every one of them.

Formation & Cash Flow

Starting, with a CPA in the room

New business formation

  • Entity selection — the structure that fits your tax picture and your liability
  • Business plan and start-up capital review
  • Accounting software selection and setup
  • Cash-flow budget, billing, and collection procedures
  • Licenses, permits, and your EIN
  • First-employee payroll, done right the first time

Cash-flow management

  • Short-term projections — weekly and monthly, for the decisions in front of you
  • Long-term projections — annual plans looking three to five years out
  • Historical cash-flow statements that show where the money actually went
  • Help securing a line of credit, with financials a lender can read
  • Collection and payment policies that keep cash moving

Forming with a partner? Your partnership agreement is part of the plan — walk the 5 D’s above before you sign anything.

Client Reviews

More than 20 years, spent on small business

The work covers the full life of a business: formation, the monthly books, the annual return, growth transitions, and the occasional letter from the IRS.

The approach never changes: explain the numbers until the owner understands them, plan before the deadline instead of reacting after it, and treat every client’s business like it matters — because to its owner, it is the whole thing.

Questions & Answers

Asked often, answered straight

My books are a mess. Can you still file?

Yes — that is a normal starting point here, not an embarrassment. We prepare the year’s bookkeeping, then the Schedule C and your personal return, and set up a system so next year stays clean.

Do you work in Xero or QuickBooks?

Both. We are a Xero Bronze Partner and a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor — setup, training, and review in whichever platform your business already runs on.

I haven’t filed in years. Where do I start?

With the returns. Before anything can be done about a balance, every missing return has to be filed and you have to be current. From there, we look at your options together.

What does the free consultation cover?

Thirty minutes on Byron’s calendar, booked online. Bring your books, your IRS letters, and the questions you have been carrying — you will leave knowing where you stand and what the next step is.

We’re forming a partnership — what should the agreement cover?

The 5 D’s: Dissolution, Disagreement, Disability, Divorce, and Death. We handle the tax and financial side of each one and work alongside your attorney, who drafts the agreement. Review it whenever the business or a partner’s life changes — at minimum, every three to five years.
